In Biovalley the diverse business activities are supported by research and development organizations, which provide companies with the latest research information. In Biovalley the research and development organizations undertake development work in close cooperation together with companies and various organizations representing the interests of those in the region.

University research:

Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius

The Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius acts as a joint institution in Kokkola, carrying out teaching and research under the auspices of the universities of Jyväskylä, Oulu and Vaasa. The Consortium’s areas of specialization mainly reflect those of its university partners: education, data processing, social sciences and regional studies, business and administration, the natural sciences, and materials technology. The consortium has a large intenational and national scientific network. We also work in close cooperation with industries in the region.

The aim of Centria’s research and development is to develop the expertise for the companies and organizations, in order to enhance their activities and competitiveness. The goal is to both provide and create new knowledge, skills and technologies for the local businesses and industries. R&D is closely linked to teaching activities, which allows Centria’s students to benefit from a learning environment based on the real working life

The Federation of Education in Central Ostrobothnia

KPEDU - The Federation of Education in Central Ostrobothnia consists of 7 vocational schools and an adult education unit. We arrange vocational upper secondary education for young students (16-19 years) and for adults. Additionally we are an active partner in development projects and co-operate with working life in our region.
